Meet the Participants of the Phone Program

Marvin Roane (pictured below)

Marvin has been homeless for about a year. His last employment was at the Supreme Court as a gardener. He is good with his hands and would like to do something mechanical. Marvin has a resume available upon request, impressive computer skills and a knack for figuring things out. Please contact Be the Change in DC if you have an opportunity for Marvin.

Sam Mcghee (pictured below)

Sam is a veteran and worked for the federal government for 25 years. He is looking for employment and would prefer a job as a clerk or something administrative in an office, although he may need some additional training. Sam is near the top of a list to receive government housing and will use the phone to keep in touch regarding the housing opportunity and for employment. Please contact Be the Change in DC if you have an opportunity for Sam Mcghee.

Fred Owens (pictured below)

Fred has been homeless since he served time in prison years ago. He has been living in shelters and holding part-time employment, mostly in construction and carpentry, ever since. Fred just recently found out that he would be given government-funded housing after being on the list for several years. He is looking for long-term employment opportunities and can do everything from typing in an office-setting to washing dishes in a restaurant. Please contact Be the Change in DC if you have an opportunity for Fred.

Sam Williamson (pictured below)

A veteran having served in the Navy, Sam is hopeful Veterans Affairs (VA) can help him find housing. Using the phone to keep in touch with family and the VA, he is also looking for employment and is willing to do just about anything. Sam has previously worked in inventory at Wal-Mart and was a personnel officer in the Navy. Please contact Be the Change in DC if you have an opportunity for Sam Williamson.
